CoE Secretary General to visit Georgia

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Marija Pejčinović Burić will visit Georgia on November 10-11.  

The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported today that her visit is connected to Georgia’s upcoming six-month chairmanship of the CoE Committee of Ministers from November.

Burić will meet with Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and discuss the issues related to Georgia’s chairmanship. They will also speak of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe.

The brand new 5 GEL silver collectors coins, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the CoE and the 20th anniversary of Georgia’s CoE membership, will be officially presented.

The parties will also introduce their 2020-2023 action plan of cooperation, aimed at bringing the country "even more closer" to European standards of human rights protection, democracy and the rule of law.

During her visit, Burić will meet with President Salome Zurabishvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze.
