Georgian judokas Eter Liparteliani and Mariam Tchanturia have won the under 23 European championship in the Russian city of Izhevsk.
Eter Liparteliani, 20, claimed gold by defeating a Russian judoka Danna Nagucheva in the under 57kg category.
Mariam Tchanturia,19, claimed gold by defeating a Dutch judoka Hilde Jager in the under 70kg category.
The European Judo Union (EJU) said “the Georgian women are on a roll this week”.
The EJU said that Liparteliani was on everyone’s “to watch” list.
She came to prove that it would and has now taken three major titles this year with undoubtedly more to come”, EJU said.
Though she is becoming known for her typical Georgian style including the ‘Khabareli lift’, she offered so much more than that today and her progress over the past year evident”, it added.
Speaking about Tchanturia, the EJU said she “managed to throw for waza ari in the final against a tricky opponent”.
Two male judokas Jaba Papinashvili and Temur Nozadze, both 21, who participate in the U23 championship in the under 60kg category, have ended with bronze each.
