The square in honour of first class Georgian private, Vasil Kuljanishvili was opened in Afghanistan, at Bagram aviation base yesterday.
Four years have passed since the death of Georgian Soldier in Afghanistan. A marathon was held in memory of Kuljanishvili at a coalition base.
Czech, American, Polish and Bosnian servicemen and women took part in the run-off with the 43rd Battalion. The marathon winners were given prizes by Bagram Aviation Base Commander Brigadier, General Brian Wolford with gifts and certificates.
In memory of Vasil Kuljanishvili, the Embassy of Georgia in the US published the message of the soldiers who expressed their gratitude to Vasil Kuljanishvili on September 23:
From those of us in the United States Armed Forces who worked alongside Georgian soldiers, and those of us that fought alongside you; Your sacrifices are not lost or forgotten,” reads the letter, signed ‘all of us.’

Vasil Kuljanishvili, a first class private of the 4th Georgian Infantry Brigade, Battalion 43, was killed during NATO Resolute Support mission as a result of insurgent attacks while on patrol.
