A new memorial has opened in Georgia to honour the memory of soldiers who died for the country’s territorial integrity and in peacekeeping operations abroad.
The new memorial was officially unveiled in the yard at the Ministry of Defence of Georgia headquarters in capital Tbilisi.
It is important to have a memorial of those whose story, behaviour and life should be remembered always. Because of them Georgia’s military forces are strong today,” said Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli after opening the memorial.
As well as reminding everyone in the Ministry about the fallen hero soldiers, the memorial will also tell their story to the various foreign guests who visit the Ministry.
We often host foreign guests at the Ministry and it is important to show them the memorial. Every time we pass it we will remember who contributed to strengthening the country’s independence,” Khidasheli said.
Meanwhile, the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia will cultivate a garden in honour of Georgian soldiers died in military service.
