August inflation: prices for food, non-alcoholic beverages increase by 1.5 per cent

The price of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1.5 per cent in August 2019, show the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In particular, prices increased for the following subgroups:

  • Milk, cheese and eggs - 4.8%
  • Meat - 2.3%
  • Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery - 1.6%
  • Fish - 1.3%
  • Oils and fats - 1.2%

Meanwhile, prices decreased for vegetables by 2.2%.

Prices went up by 0.6 % for transport.

Prices increased for both the purchase of vehicles (2%) and the operation of personal transport equipment (0.9%).

Health-related cost also increased by 0.7 per cent. Prices increased for medical products, appliances and equipment by 1.6 per cent.
