Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan are Georgia’s top trade partners this year, shows the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia’s top 10 trade partners in January-June 2019 made for 67.2 per cent of the country’s total trade turnover, with Turkey ($843 million), Russia ($677.8 million) and Azerbaijan ($508.9 million) filling the top three spots.
Trade turnover with the European Union (EU) countries decreased by 4.6 per cent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $1.51 billion, said Geostat.
Exports were worth $426.9 million (16.1 per cent higher), while imports reached $1.08 billion (10.8 per cent lower).
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries totalled $2.03 billion in January-June 2019 – a five per cent lower compared to the same period of 2018.
Exports were worth $916.2 million (27.1 per cent higher) while imports equalled $1.11 billion (15.6 per cent higher).

Overall, Georgia’s external trade decreased by 0.6 per cent and reached $5.96 billion in January-June 2019, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
