Sukhishvili National Ballet closes folk music festival Art Gene

The Georgian folklore tour Art Gene, which is conducted annually across the country has come to an end.
Sukhishvili Georgian National Ballet held the final concert as a part of the tour and offered premieres of new performances to the spectators yesterday.

The 16th Tbilisi tour was preceded by a series of concerts in different Georgian regions starting Adjara on June 16.
During the tour spectators saw exhibitions of different artworks, handicrafts as well as performance by the regional folklore ensembles.

The Tbilisi events opened at Tbilisi Ethnographic Museum on July 7. Georgian composer Dato Evgenidze, folk and blues singer and composer Niaz Diasamidze and his band 33a, as well as other Georgian singers participated in the festival.
Art Gene, aimed at presentation of Georgian folklore dates back 16 years. More than 100 concerts have been conducted during the period attended by approximately 30-40 thousand people every year.
On the 28th of January 2019, the Embassy of Georgia in the US hosted the NY-based Linich Family Trio, who performed the Georgian traditional polyphonic piece Mravalzhamieri together with The Capitol Hill Chorale, based in DC.
For a month starting this Sunday, folk arts enthusiasts will be invited to watch artist performances, taste local cuisine and find artisanal items exhibited at the Art-Gene Festival. The festival, aimed at presentation of Georgian folklore dates back 16 years. More than 100 concerts have been conducted during the period attended by approximately 30-40 thousand people every year.
The annual folklore tour across Georgia named Art-Gene will start on June 16 in Akhmeta, in the Georgian region of Kakheti. Afterwards on June 22, a concert will be held in the region of Adjara that will be followed by a performance in the village of Gordi, in the region of Imereti on June 28.

The Sukhishvilebi Georgian National Ballet has stopped touring in Ukraine as the country announced quarantine to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. The Georgian national ballet has been on tour since February 1.
