With 50 votes in favour and five against, the OSCE PA’s Committee on Political Affairs and Security adopted the resolution initiated by the Georgian lawmaker Sophio Katsarava, despite Russia’s demand to exclude the resolution from the agenda.
The resolution is on the security and human rights situation in Georgia’s Russian occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).

The resolution calls on Russia to withdraw its military troops from Georgian territories and to fully fulfil the ceasefire agreement signed with Georgia after the Russia-Georgia 2008.
It also addresses the grave human rights situation in occupied regions, calls to hold accountable the people charged for crimes from the Otkhozoria-Tatunashvili blacklist, as well as speaks about the necessity of admitting human rights international monitoring missions into Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.
All international organisations agree on territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia never doubting that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are the territories of Georgia", the Head of the British Delegation Mark Pritchard said.
Luxembourg is hosting the 28th annual session of OSCE PA under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Development to Promote Security: The Role of Parliaments” on July 4-8.
