Chief accountant detained for stealing $814,326 from a company he worked

Law enforcers have detained a chief accountant of one of the companies in Georgia, who, with the use of his post, stole $814,326, the Georgian Ministry of Finance says.
The ministry reports that the individual had an access to the bank accounts of the company, as he worked as a chief accountant, and he would carry out various, illegal transactions.
He tried to show that the transactions were for covering of different tax obligations of the company or for paying loans,” the ministry said.
The detainee faces seven to 11 years in prison.
Police have detained an individual in Georgia’s Black seaside region of Adjara for stealing money through Internet fraud that affected dozens of people. The Georgian Interior Ministry reported today that an individual identified as G.I. received 8,000 GEL [Up to $2,919/€2,588] through fraud since December 2018.

Georgian police officers have detained one person today for taking a hostage while holding up an Apple product retail store, iPlus, in Tbilisi. Police say that the 33-year-old detainee, identified as N.R., rushed into the shop located on Pekini Avenue and threatened one of the employees with a knife.
