Chief accountant detained for stealing $814,326 from a company he worked

The detainee faces up to 11 years in prison.

Law enforcers have detained a chief accountant of one of the companies in Georgia, who, with the use of his post, stole $814,326, the Georgian Ministry of Finance says.

The ministry reports that the individual had an access to the bank accounts of the company, as he worked as a chief accountant, and he would carry out various, illegal transactions.

He tried to show that the transactions were for covering of different tax obligations of the company or for paying loans,” the ministry said.

The detainee faces seven to 11 years in prison.
