The Georgian Education Ministry and global leading technology company Input Output HK Ltd have signed an agreement earlier today to use revolutionary blockchain data technology in the Georgian education field.
Blockchain technology, which has gained popularity over the last few years for its unique cybersecurity capabilities, has begun to see use in various industries that take security seriously, including finance and healthcare.
Education is seen to be the next to use the technology, and will enable users to confirm that information pertaining to a person’s skills, education and knowledge is genuine.
Specialists say that digital data will be a source for employers to have correct information about an individual’s knowledge who might be hired, as a number of people indicate that they have degrees on their CVs of which they are not actually in possession.
Georgia will be one of the first countries with its education system using the third generation blockchain technology. It is a very important deal and we are very glad that Input Output HK will support Georgian education reform in terms of technology,” Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Batiashvili said.
He stated that preparatory works have already been conducted and starting from July 2019, further work will take place with the involvement of American experts.
Both the fields of cooperation and conditions have been agreed upon in the deal,” Batiashvili said.
Georgia was the first country in the region which launched the use of revolutionary Blockchain technology in the public sector and land registration became a pilot project where the technology was also used.
