A downtown Tbilisi museum will be open on Friday to host Idea Fest, a competition of creative ideas that have potential to be transformed into commercially viable, socially beneficial projects and win a major prize in the United Kingdom.

Seeking startups that bring innovative concepts to digital technology, creative industry or social field, the festival will host the contest between entrants at the Tbilisi History Museum, also known as Karvasla.

At the event, 10 startups will pitch their ideas to claim the win and 1,000 EUR money prize while also qualifying for the Big Idea Challenge competition in the UK.

The latter, held with a 25,000 GBP prize up for grabs for the eventual winner, is designed to teach students with ideas to develop their ideas “into a powerful business model and pitch it to the world”.

The precursor competition in Georgia is organised by the local Business and Technology University, Georgian National Museum and a Hanley Business School entrepreneurship centre.

It represents the final stage of the Creative Spark programme of the British Council, held at the Tbilisi Creative Centre.

The latter, launched this year, enables creative individuals to launch startups, discover partners in their endeavours and develop their skills through workshops while seeking to take their ideas to a global stage.

The 2019 Idea Fest will be hosted at the Karvasla museum, located at 8, Sioni Street in the Georgian capital.
