Underground waste containers will be installed on Chavchavadze Avenue, Tbilisi, during a pilot project that includes a full renovation of the area.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated the project will also be implemented at other renovated streets in the future.
He said the current waste containers placed at central roads are not visually attractive and cause many problems.

We are beginning the full renovation of Chavchavadze Avenue where the situation is very difficult, especially when it comes to underground communications. The avenue will be totally renovated including its communications, outdoor lightings, walking paths and bus lines,” Kaladze said.
He also added that installation of underground waste containers will be a step forward as this practice is often applied in many developed cities.

Mayor Kaladze said the locations where containers will be installed will be covered from above and be almost invisible.
The main thing is that a cleaner environment will be maintained,” he stated.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze added that the government has also launched the installation of dustbins for waste separation.
