Georgia’s external trade at $3.86 billion in Jan-April 2019

Georgia’s external trade amounted to $3.86 billion in January-April 2019, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

This was 2.3% higher year-on-year.

In the reporting period the value of Georgian exports increased by 17.9% to $1.13 billion, while the value of imports decreased by 3.1% to $2.72 billion with respect to 2018, said Geostat.

Georgia’s trade deficit came out to $1.59 billion, which was a 41.3% share of the country's total trade turnover.

Trade deficit is an economic measure of the negative balance of trade in which a country's imports exceed its exports.
