PM Kvirikashvili discusses govt’s peace initiative with EU special representative

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar yesterday evening.

The major topic of discussion at the meeting was the Georgian government’s peace initiative A Step to a Better Future. 

This initiative seeks to improve the socio-economic conditions of the populations in the occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali aiming to step up the reconciliation process.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Geneva International Talks in the process of peaceful conflict regulation and on the importance of further intensifying the format of negotiations.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the search for missing persons and emphasized the positive engagement of the International Committee of the Red Cross in this process.
