A showcase of the French capital Paris in acclaimed snaps by famed late photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson will launch and headline this year’s Kolga Tbilisi Photo exhibition and awards this week.
Some of Cartier-Bresson’s best images of the city, captured over an extended period of time, will be on display at the Tbilisi History Museum, also known as Karvasla, on Thursday.
It will introduce the co-founder of acclaimed collective Magnum Photos, who traversed Paris to find moments that would later go on to become timeless.

[T]he exhibition collects all his photographs of Paris, ancient or recent, well known or never seen”, said a preview by Kolga organisers.
Some of Cartier-Bresson’s most recognised photographs, including his 1969 image Boulevard Diderot and a 1954 photo of a woman crossing a street in the capital city, will be part of the selection.
Supported by Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, a foundation the photographer established shortly before his death in 2004, the exhibition will mark this year’s Tbilisi-based photo event.
Established in 2002 as a competition for amateur photographers, Kolga Tbilisi Photo has grown over the last decade to become a major photo competition in Georgia.
The 2018 edition will present works ranging from photographs of Soviet-era bus stops across Georgia to intimate portraits of people’s candid expressions.
The Kolga event will also hold an awards ceremony, with a jury selecting winners in categories Documentary Series, Reportage, Conceptual Photo Project, One Shot, Mobile One Shot and Mobile Photo Series.
