Famed British musician and former Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant will headline this year’s Black Sea Jazz Festival on Georgia’s coast, with the roster of acclaimed performers also including award-winning pianist Robert Glasper.

Plant will go on stage at the Black Sea Arena, a premier performing venue opened two years ago in the seaside town of Shekvetili.

He will be flanked by members of Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, a band the legendary singer formed in 2012, for a show on July 19.

Marking the 12th edition of the annual festival, organisers have also unveiled a lineup including Robert Glasper, praised as "ideal flag-bearer for the new jazz era” by the Interview magazine.

Winner of three Grammy Awards and nominee for an Emmy Award, Glasper is known for his work in a variety of genres including jazz, R&B and hip-hop.

American electronic artist and producer Taylor McFerrin, son of celebrated vocalist Bobby McFerrin, will also feature in the festival. McFerrin has performed alongside award-winning artists such as Erykah Badu, The Roots and Glasper and released his maiden album Early Riser in 2014.

Hailing from the musical backdrop of New Orleans, American trombonist and trumpeter Troy Andrews, will appear at the Georgian event via his stage alias Trombone Shorty.

The young artist will entertain the crowds on the Black Sea coast in between a busy performance schedule in the United States during the summer.

The mini-roster of trombone players will be bolstered at the festival by Christian Scott, another talent originating from the New Orleans scene.

Scott was a Grammy nominee for his 2006 maiden album Rewind That, before the composer and producer followed it up with a dozen more releases since.

A multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Terrace Martin, nominated for a Grammy for his 2016 album Velvet Portraits, will round off the list of headlining performers for this year’s event.

More artists will be part of the festival set to run between July 19-22.

This year’s Black Sea Jazz Festival is one of four major musical events hosted by Eastern Promotions between April and September.

The company will also invite music enthusiasts to attend the Tbilisi Jazz Festival through the International Jazz Day in April, Jazz and Wine Kakheti festival in Georgia’s winemaking province, and a gig by the British band The Chemical Brothers in the city of Rustavi.
