The Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg highlighted the case of the death of Georgian citizen Archil Tatunashvili in the country’s occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region during his meeting with the Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili in Brussels, Belgium today.
The Secretary General expressed his condolences over the recent death of a Georgian citizen in the Georgian region of South Ossetia and his hopes for the prompt release of two other men who were detained [with Tatunashvili],” the NATO official webpage reads.

Stoltenberg thanked Margvelashvili for Georgia’s remarkable contributions to international security and to NATO operations and missions, including the country’s contribution to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan and to the NATO Response Force.
He commended Georgia for the progress in implementing "important reforms” that will strengthen democracy in Georgia and the rule of law.
He encouraged Georgia to continue on this path.
The Secretary General said that the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package is delivering results and that NATO-Georgia cooperation continues to deepen.
Stoltenberg stated he looked forward to Georgia's participation at the NATO Summit in July.
