Georgia’s mountainous Adjara region attracted 46,592 visitors in 2017

Georgia’s high-mountainous Adjara region is attracting more visitors year after year, show statistics.

Last year, 46,592 travellers visited guesthouses, touristic sites and museums in Adjara region, which was a 98 percent increase compared to 2016.

The most visited places in Adjara were:

  • Keda – 20,298 visitors (204 percent increase)
  • Khulo – 18,626 visitors (78 percent increase)
  • Machakhela – 7,668 visitors (71 percent increase)

One of the most visited places in Adjara region were museums, where the number of visitors increased by 32 percent in 2017 compared to 2016.

As reported, 15,286 visited Adjara’s museums last year.

The head of Adjara’s Tourism Department Sulkhan Glonti said that last year the office organised 12 info tours and introduced Adjara’s touristic potential to about 180 people, excluding trade fairs and other programmes abroad.
