New police station opens in western Georgia

A new police station fully equipped with modern facilities has opened in the Georgian region of Imereti today.

Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia wished the police officers successful and effective work.

One of the important directions of our reforms is to increase the effectiveness of the police system. It should be more human-oriented… And of course ensure crime prevention”, Minister Gakharia said at the opening ceremony.

The new two-storied police station has been built this year to replace an older, dilapidated building. Located in Khoni, the new building is fully adapted for people with special needs.

We are sire that with the improved [and] comfortable buildings the police system will be successful and effective”, Gakharia said.

Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia recently announced about several directions where his agency intends to implement major reforms to ensure public safety and react more rapidly to the challenges that the Georgian society faces nowadays.
