The Parliament Speaker of Greece Nikos Voutsis has awarded Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili with the high parliamentary Pericles Award as a sign of respect.
The ceremony was performed during Margvelashvili’s two-day trip to Greece, which launched today.
Margvelashvili spoke about Georgia’s territorial problems to Greek lawmakers and the Parliament Speaker and thanked the country for its support to Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Margvelashvili also thanked the Greek government and parliament for their continued support for Georgia’s European integration.
Margvelashvili held his first meeting today with his Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos, where the top officials agreed on enhancing trade, economic, political and cultural ties.
The Greek official emphasized Georgia’s strategic location and the country’s transit role.
