The non-governmental organisation Georgian Young Lawyers Association has asked the Central Election Commission to suspend voting at a polling station in the city of Marneuli following reports of violations during the election process today.

The NGO reported two cases of voting violations by citizens at the No. 49 Polling Station in the southern city and called for cancellation of votes cast at the location.

An announcement by GYLA, released during the ongoing runoff for presidential elections, said the organisation had revealed a voter who cast their bulletin at the station while being registered in the voter list at another station.

It also alleged the voter in question later tried to vote a second time at the No. 49 location, before they left the scene when a GYLA observer questioned the process.

Another case of alleged violation at the station came from another citizen who GYLA said had cast their vote twice despite their name not being on the general voter list.

Other cases of voters attempting to take part in voting at the station despite being marked for having already voted during the day were also reported.

Beside addressing the CEC, GYLA has also asked the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia to launch an investigation into the “supposed falsification of elections” at the Marneuli station.

The No. 49 polling location serves as voting station for 1,532 registered voters.

There were no cases of NGO requests for cancellation of voting results during the first round of presidential elections on October 28.
