The historical streets of the small Georgian town of Dusheti will soon be restored, announces the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia.
The project will envisage the restoration the centre of Dusheti, in particular Rustaveli, Erekle II, Chavchavadze, Kostava, St. Nino and Shamanauri streets. The rehabilitation works include road pavement, sidewalks and outdoor lighting.
The buildings and structures located near the central park will also be restored. Some of these buildings built in the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century have been granted the status of cultural heritage.

In total, 40 houses, including 24 with the status of cultural heritage, will be restored in Dusheti.
The fund has already completed the restoration of Dusheti Central Park. Within the project, the fountain, drainage and sewage systems were repaired, in addition to a retaining wall and paths and small squares.
“The implementation of infrastructure projects in Dusheti will contribute to the development of tourist infrastructure, given that it is next to the rehabilitated district, because of which employment opportunities for locals will be increased”, read the press release published by the Municipal Development Fund.
