September inflation: education costs increase by 3.7% in Georgia

Education costs have risen in Georgia, show the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Prices in the group of education increased by 3.7 per cent. The prices were up for the following subgroups:

  • Secondary education (6.3 per cent)
  • Pre-primary and primary education (6.2 per cent)
  • Tertiary education (0.8 per cent)

Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels also increased by one per cent. The prices went up for the following subgroups:

  • Electricity, gas and other fuels (1.2 per cent)
  • Maintenance and repair of the dwelling (0.4 per cent)
  • Actual rentals for housing (0.3 per cent)

Health-related costs also increased by 0.6 per cent. In the mentioned period the prices went up for the following subgroups:

  • Outpatient services (0.7 per cent)
  • Medical products, appliances and equipment (0.7 per cent)
  • Hospital services (0.4 percent)

Overall, in September 2018 the consumer price index increased by 0.3 per cent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 2.7 per cent, said Geostat.
