Annual inflation rate in July 2018 posts 2.8% increase

Georgia’s monthly inflation rate amounted to -0.3 percent in July 2018, while annual inflation from July 2017 to July 2018 amounted to 2.8 percent, reports the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Last month prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1.1 percent.
- Prices decreased for:
- Fruit and grapes (-12.6 percent)
- Vegetables (-10.7 percent)
In the meantime, the prices increased for milk, cheese and eggs (2.7 percent).
Transport-related costs increased by 1.2 percent in July. Prices increased for transport services (1.7 percent) and operation of personal transport equipment (1.3 percent). Meanwhile, prices decreased for the subgroup of purchase of vehicles (-1.6 percent).
As for clothing and footwear, prices in this group decreased by 1.4 percent. Specifically, prices decreased for footwear (-2.4 percent) and clothing (-1.0 percent), said Geostat.
