Young film star Irakli Kvirikadze shooting with Anthony Hopkins

Georgia’s rising film star Irakli Kvirikadze is set to appear in a new production alongside cinema legend Anthony Hopkins, after the young actor was spotted on the set of Riccardo Spinotti’s Now Is Everything.

Photos of Kvirikadze and Hopkins from the filming were shared on social media by the Georgian actor and his partner Elene Makharashvili last weekend.

On the set, the actor — winner of this year’s European Film Promotion Award for the most talented up-and-coming actor throughout the continent — is seen with Hopkins in scenes of the feature.

The young film professional was acquainted to Hopkins — an Academy Award-winning celebrity — through production designer Lasha Zambakhidze, who is also involved in the filming of Spinotti’s newest work.

The shooting for Now Is Everything is scheduled to finish later this summer. The indie feature is directed by two-time Academy Award nominee Spinotti, with Markus Bishop-Hill contributing as executive producer.

We are thrilled to have Irakli starring in this film.. I’m confident this will launch his career internationally, and deserved so", Bishop-Hill noted in his comments about the filming.

The cast also stars French-American actor Camille Rowe and Ray Nicholson, son of three-time Academy Award winner and famed cinema figure Jack Nicholson.

[The feature] is the story of fashion photographer, Nicolas Yarna [portrayed by Kvirikadze], emotionally devastated by the death of his younger brother, Cedric [Nicholson].
 The mysterious disappearance of Nicolas’ girlfriend, Matilda [Rowe], leads him into a journey of his unconscious where he discovers love, and the absence of love", says a summary from creators.

Screenplay for the in-production work comes from Valentina De Amicis  who is also co-directing the film  as well as Spinotti and Matt Handy.

Kvirikadze studied at the United States-based Stella Adler Studio of Acting, founded by American actor. The school’s graduates include famed film professionals Benicio del Toro, Salma Hayek and Robert de Niro.

The young Georgian won the EFP Award after being shortlisted for the European Shooting Stars selection that highlighted the brightest new film talent in late 2017.

He found himself picked among other young European stars after being cast in one of the principal roles in feature drama Hostages, which premiered at the 2017 Berlinale Film Festival. Kvirikadze then received the EFP prize for the most talented newcomer at the this year’s Berlinale.
