Two people have been arrested and three others charged for the forceful extortion of money in Batumi night clubs.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been investigating the case of extortion for certain services at Batumi night clubs since May 18.
"Based on a court order investigative and operational actions, including hidden video and audio shooting were conducted. As a result, one Georgian citizen born in 1983 and one citizen of Turkey born in 1985 have been arrested. Offences committed by them envisage four to seven years of imprisonment,” the MIA said today.
The investigators said that the arrested persons have been threatening citizens of Turkey and forcing them to pay for food and drink they did not order at Batumi night clubs. The amount of money extorted by the offenders was 730 GEL.
According to the MIA, there was another such case as well in which three citizens of Turkey have been charged under the Criminal Code of Georgia for the forceful extortion of 2 700 GEL from their fellow citizens.
