110 violations of the rules of tobacco consumption have been recorded by patrol inspectors since the enactment of the new regulations on tobacco control until June 7.
10 legal entities and 93 people were fined under the Code of Administrative Offenses. The law on tobacco control came into force on May 1 and forbids smoking in public places such as bars, restaurants and offices. In case of violation, the owner of the venue will be charged 500 GEL; if the violation is repeated, the fine will be doubled.
On the other hand, if a person smokes in the entrance, corridor, staircase, roof, loft or other parts of a multi-dwelling apartment building, the fine is GEL 50, and repeated violation will cost the offender GEL 100.
The most violations have happened in Imereti region, Western Georgia. 68 people in total have been fined in Imereti.
As for the capital city only one person was fined in May, however 2 people have been fined since the beginning of June.
