Georgian Foreign Minister briefs top OSCE/ ODIHR figures on situation in occupied territories

Georgia’s Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze has met top figures from OSCE/ODIHR, within the 24th OSCE Council Ministerial in Austria, and briefed them about the serious violation of human rights in Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
Janelidze met with Lamberto Zannier, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, yesterday and discussed the topic of national minorities in addition to the occupation of Georgian territories with him.
The Georgian minister thanked Zannier for his recommendations and thematic projects for Georgia.
Janelidze also held a meeting with the ODIHR Director Ingibjorg Solrun Gísladottir. Janelidze thanked her for the ODIHR’s monitoring activities in Georgian elections.
Within the OSCE ministerial meeting, Janelidze met with his Finnish counterpart Timo Soini and discussed bilateral relations with him, thanked Finland for its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Janelidze invited Soini to Georgia.
OSCE Group of Friends of Georgia, uniting the US, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and Poland, intends to adopt a declaration supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and democratic development at today’s OSCE Ministerial Council.
For the first time since Russia-Georgia war in August 2008, the OSCE Group of Friends of Georgia has adopted a declaration on the conflict supporting Georgia's territorial integrity.
The OSCE PA approved an important document prepared by Georgia about the conflicts in the country, stating Russia continued to violate international laws and violate the rights of Georgian citizens living in and near the occupied regions.
Officials discuss international challenges in Tbilisi
Today is the second day of the annual Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA), which is taking place in Tbilisi from July 1-5.
OSCE Group of Friends of Georgia, uniting Canada, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, has released a statement supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and democratic development at today’s OSCE Ministerial Council.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said the statement released by the OSCE Group of Friends of Georgia supporting its territorial integrity and democratic development is a strong political message from the international community.
