Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has hosted his Moldovan counterpart Pavel Filip, who is on his first official visit to Georgia.
Kvirikashvili addressed Filip as a "dear friend” and stressed that Moldova is a strategic ally for Georgia.
"We view Moldova as our important strategic ally, we share common foreign and political aspirations, we enjoy important formats of cooperation; I would like to thank you for cooperation within the framework of international formats and unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia”, Kvirikashvili said.

He added that on its part, Georgia clearly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova as well as its foreign and political aspirations.
Filip also stressed friendly relations between the two countries, noting that Georgia and Moldova have established lasting relations.
"Alongside with friendly interactions, we also share common interests in terms of the EU integration and unfortunately, we also have conflicts in common that are very painful to us. Hence, sharing of an experience is important to achieve success in this regard”, he said.

Later the two officials spoke to media at a joint press conference, where they revealed their intention to deepen economic relations, for which "there is a really strong foundation”.
Within the visit, Georgia and Moldova signed a deal avoiding double taxation.
