Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has stated that the Georgia-EU 2017-2020 Association Agenda, drafted to ensure the fulfillment of the Georgia-EU Association Agreement, is more ambitious than the previous one covering 2014-2016.

The new Association Agenda enables Georgia to come maximally close to the EU standards and norms,” the ministry reported.

The ministry stated that the new agenda reflects the "big progress” Georgia achieved during the implementation of the previous agenda.

Georgia’s legal and institutional directions are coming in line with the European standards; we are implementing the EU standards in different fields and intensifying involvements in the EU’s special agencies and programs. The new agenda reflects the intentions,” Georgia’s Foreign Ministry stated.
The EU is ready to ensure tangible financial and technical support to Georgia in the process of the implementation of the agenda,” the ministry added.

The ministry underscored that the security direction was highlighted as a separate priority in the new agenda.

The Foreign Ministry also stated that the new agenda was elaborated through the active communication with the civil sector.
