Georgian leaders firm in support of territorial integrity of Spain

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has sent a letter to King Philip VI of the Kingdom of Spain and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy expressing Georgia’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain.

President Margvelashvili said the threat of separatism is well-known in Georgia as "my country has been fighting for the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity since the day of independence".

I am confident that the fundamental principles of international law and the unity of the international community will make it possible to resolve the existing problems”, President Margvelashvili said wishing the Spanish people peace and prosperity.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikahsvili also took to Twitter.

According to Independent, Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has imposed direct rule on Catalonia after the region declared independence. As a result, Rajoy has fired the Catalonia government, dissolved parliament and call new elections for the area that will take place on 21 December.
