Georgian leaders firm in support of territorial integrity of Spain

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has sent a letter to King Philip VI of the Kingdom of Spain and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy expressing Georgia’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain.
Georgia fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Spain and stands in solidarity W/ the Spanish Government.

President Margvelashvili said the threat of separatism is well-known in Georgia as "my country has been fighting for the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity since the day of independence".
I am confident that the fundamental principles of international law and the unity of the international community will make it possible to resolve the existing problems”, President Margvelashvili said wishing the Spanish people peace and prosperity.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikahsvili also took to Twitter.

According to Independent, Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has imposed direct rule on Catalonia after the region declared independence. As a result, Rajoy has fired the Catalonia government, dissolved parliament and call new elections for the area that will take place on 21 December.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry has released a statement to clarify that no representative office of Georgia’s Russian-occupied region of Tskhinvali has opened in Barcelona. Earlier this week, reports spread in the media that South Ossetia had opened its representation in Barcelona.

King Felipe VI of Spain visited the Georgian exhibition pavilion with the Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, who informed the couple of Georgia’s resorts, tourist potential and ongoing projects.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has stated they are involved in a large-scale anti-mafia operation in Madrid, Catalonia and several other locations in Spain.
