US-Georgian partnership discussed at Department of State

The United States (US) Department of State has hosted a working group of Georgian-US strategic partnership commission.
Georgian and US state officials discussed bilateral issues of defense and security, Georgia’s contribution in the fight against terrorism, the human rights situation in the Russian occupied regions and the further plans for strengthening Georgia’s defense compatibility with the NATO allies.
The US officials once again reiterated their firm support towards Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. The parties also spoke about the recent cases of wildfire in Georgia and the US support in struggle against it if necessary in future.
The US officials praised Georgian reforms in defense and security and thanked the country for its contribution to the global peacekeeping.
