Works underway to extinguish wildfire in Georgian regions

A special meeting has been held in the Georgian region of Kakheti over the recent wild fires that broke out on several locations in Georgia yesterday.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, additional groups of firefighters and rescuers have been mobilised to extinguish the fires with helicopters.

Fire has broken out in several different regions of Georgia in recent days:
- Kvareli and Telavi Municipalities in Kakheti region;
- Tusheti region;
- Kazbegi Municipality in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region;
- Adjara region.
The investigative activities to find out the causes of forest fires are underway.
A fire has broken out on the Kokhta mountain in Georgia’s eastern region of Kakheti today. Two Iranian helicopters will assist the Georgia Emergency Service to extinguish the fire.
A fire has been localized in Khulo, on the Shavnabada Mountain in Georgia’s western seaside Adjara region, David Tserodze from the Ministry of Environment told the local media.
