Georgia’s peach exports up 44% in January-July

Georgia is exporting significantly more peaches this season to several foreign countries and mainly in Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
So far this year, Georgia’s peach exports were more than 44 percent higher than the same time in 2016, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture.
During the first seven months of this year Georgia exported 5,853 tonnes of peaches, while in the same period of last year Georgia exported 2,603 tonnes of the same fruit.
Georgia earned $2.2 million by exporting 5,853 tonnes of peaches abroad.
The five countries which imported the largest number of Georgian peaches this month were Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Ukraine.
Russia imported 76 percent of the peaches exported by Georgia, Azerbaijan imported 14 percent and Kazakhstan imported four percent.
To support the local peach harvest, a special group was created in Gurjaani, in Georgia’s Kakheti region, to help farmers prepare all necessary documents needed during the harvest, processing or export periods.
Georgia’s external trade grew by 13.8 percent this year and reached $4829.9 million in January-June 2017, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

Today the Ministry of Agriculture announced 430 hectares of land will be developed into orchards in Georgia’s central Shida Kartli region.
The peach harvest season is over in Georgia and the country has already exported 10,800 tonnes of peach to several foreign countries – mainly to Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
As of July 5, 2018 Georgia has exported 4,400 tonnes of peaches which is five times more compared to the same period of 2017, announces Georgia’s Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.
