A section of the international Senaki-Poti-Sarpi road, which links Georgia and Turkey, has been closed to all traffic due to bridge damage.

Georgia’s Road Department announced that the bridge has been damaged at the 16th kilometer of this route (close to the Turkish border), meaning no vehicles can move along this section.

The Department suggested two alternative routes: One through the 301-313 km section (the town of Khobi) of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway and the other through the Chaladidi-Khorga-Khobi road.

Drivers are warned that only vehicles lighter than 60 tonnes are allowed at the Chaladidi-Khorga-Khobi route.

Patrol police will be coordinating the traffic along the new routes.

The Road Department’s announcement regarding the traffic changes was released yesterday evening.
