The Government of Georgia will cover the medical expenses for socially vulnerable individuals who suffer from chronic diseases.

Starting tomorrow, about 200,000 socially vulnerable individuals will be able to pay a symbolic fee, about 1GEL, for the medicines they need to cope with chronic diseases.

The Ministry of Health specified four types of diseases and the state budget will allocate funds for only the medicines that are used against the illnesses.

The diseases are:

  • Cardiovascular diseases
  •  Lung chronic diseases
  • Thyroid disease
  • Type II diabetes (not insulin-dependent)

Only socially vulnerable individuals can benefit through the program who have no more than 100,000 points in the database of the socially vulnerable.

The medicines are handed out only in the tender-winning PSP pharmacy.
