Cases solved through mediation increases by 80%

Georgia’s State National Bureau of Enforcement reports that over the last four years the number of the cases solved through the mediation and reconciliation has increased by 80pecent.  

The state agency also revealed a survey conducted by the Swedish International Development Agency which reads that the 70percent of the Georgian population sees improvements in the agency’s activities and the trust to the Enforcement Bureau and enforcers is increased to 74percent. 

The survey says that the 64percent of the interviewees believe the body’s services are available and proceedings-transparent. 

  • Summary proceedings is a service of the National Bureau of Enforcement, which enables citizens to solve the dispute referring to monetary commitment without any legal procedure quickly and cost-effectively. 
  • An applicant may apply to the summery proceedings in case if the respondent (the debtor) has overdue and documented monetary debt. After examining the documents, each case is transferred to a case manager of the summary proceedings service.

The Bureau says in 2016, the summary proceedings service received 19, 238 applications for debt collection, of which 1, 043 applicants had been denied on the basis of the requirements of the law, and 17, 865 cases were transferred to the case managers into proceeding.

11, 458 from 17, 865 applications received by the case managers into proceeding from January to December 2016, inclusive, were completed with reconciliation, including payment within the voluntary payment period was carried out on 165 cases and 1, 667 cases were completed with reconciliation,” the Enforcement Bureau stated. 

They believe the progress was because of the effective reforms.
