Artist SALIO in the running for Amy Winehouse contest award

Georgian singer SALIO is part of an ongoing competition celebrating the anniversary of the iconic single, Back to Black, of the late British artist, Amy Winehouse.

The contest #BacktoBlack10 marks 10 years since the single was first released, awarding a prize for the best cover of Winehouse’s hit recording. The contest was launched by the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The competition involves professional and amateur performers sending the foundation videos of them performing cover versions of Back to Black.

The foundation will select the winner from the submitted videos, with January 31 as the deadline for entries.

Following the conclusion of the contest, the winner will be given a chance to record their submitted cover at a professional recording studio.

In addition, their recording will be featured by Island Records, a British-Jamaican company featuring numerous artists including Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated jazz performer Jamie Cullum and Grammy-nominated American rock band The Killers.

SALIO has participated in numerous international music competitions in recent years and won the 2016 SongBuilder Studios Songwriting Contest last month.

The contest involved aspiring performers and songwriters looking for their international breakthrough. Winning the competition enabled the Georgian artist to have her music broadcast to households across the United States (US) by around 100 radio stations.

SALIO was selected as winner of the occasion for her single Wayside, which was released last year as part of the artist's debut album, Lost World.
