Blackberry orchards planted in western Georgia

Blackberry orchards have been planted on 4ha in Georgia’s western region of Imereti within the state-run project Plant the Future, aiming to stimulate the region’s agricultural industry.

MNK Group received 31,000 GEL (about $12,809/€11,397*) from the state to plant the orchards and establish an irrigation system in the village of Mukhiani.

Launched in 2015, Plant the Future project aims at helping farmers produce high quality products that would compete with imported products in the local market. At the same time this should increase the export potential of Georgia’s agricultural products.
