Foreign Minister leaves for Strasbourg to enhance ties with EU

Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze has departed on an official visit to Strasbourg, France.

While abroad Janelidze is scheduled to meet with Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Thorbjorn Jagland and lawmakers of the European Parliament. 

Janelidze’s meeting with the CoE top official will be dedicated to discussing the existing relations between Georgia and the CoE, and the current situation in Georgia’s de facto regions Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), among other things. 

Meanwhile Georgia’s European integration agenda, continuing democratic reforms and prospects of enhancing cooperation with the European Parliament will be discussed at Janelidze’s meeting with the European Parliament lawmakers. Regional security issues will also be on the agenda.
