US praises Georgia’s economic development and good governance

A United States (US) official is praising the experience Georgia has gained in economic development and good governance in the past two decades.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of States Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs Kurt Tong came to Tbilisi and spoke of the US’ support for Georgia.

Today Georgia’s capital hosted a meeting of the Economic, Trade, and Energy Working Group under the US-Georgia Strategic Partnership Commission, which was co-chaired by Kurt.

"It’s internationally known that the US firmly supports Georgia sovereignty and territorial integrity and attaches particular attention to Georgia’s economic development,” Kurt said.

He added within today’s dialogue the two countries developed an "ambitious agenda”, which could bring Georgia and the US even closer for the coming 25 years.

"Georgia has gained impressive experience in the fields of economic development and good governance,” he added.

The US official also stressed his country supported Georgia’s important role as a hub linking Europe and Asia.
