A special meeting is being held today between Georgia and the United States (US), where parties can discuss the current and future defence and security cooperation and regional and multilateral security issues.
Georgia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry released details of today’s discussions, which are taking place during the latest meeting of the US-Georgia Strategic Partnership Commission Working Group for Defence and Security. The meeting is being held at Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the talks, special attention will be paid to the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, the challenges this posed, enhancement of Georgia’s security and defensive capabilities and the country's NATO integration.
The Defence and Security Working Group is being led from the Georgian side by Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Dondua and Deputy Defence Minister Levan Ghirshiashvli and from the US side by Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs Todd Chapman and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Dr. Evelyn Farkas.
