Georgia's western Autonomous Republic of Adjara has today chosen a new chairman of the region’s legislative body.
The new chairman of the fourth Supreme Council of Adjara is David Gabaidze. He was nominated in the post by the ruling party Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party.
Gabaidze, 36, is a qualified lawyer. Since 2014 he has served as head of the Department of Legal and Human Resource Management in the autonomous government of Adjara.
During his career he has worked in various high ranking positions within the autonomous government and in private sector.
His candidacy was supported by 14 members of the 21-seat Supreme Council.
