Georgia's teachers will start next year with a little bit more money in their wallets thanks to a salary increase from the state.
Georgia’s Minister of Education Alexander Jejelava today announced from the start of next year the average salary of teachers in Georgia would reach $330 USD.
In recent years the Government has offered greater financial and professional support to teachers within an overhaul of the local education system.
Today Jejelava said this salary increase was further proof the Government supported teachers, and said next year's state budget would finance salary increase for teachers.
Over the past four years the salaries of teachers in Georgia has gradually increased and this will continue in the future, said Jejelava.
The average salary for teachers in 2012, when the current Georgian Dream Government took office, was equivalent to $109 but since then it has been periodically increased.
