Police all over Georgia are searching for the man allegedly responsible for planting an explosive device inside the car of an opposition MP in central Tbilisi on October 4.

This afternoon Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili said police had "reliable evidence” that identified those responsible for the car bomb.

While speaking about those responsible, Mgebrishvili used the term 'people' indicating more than one person was involved but he did not elaborate further.

Mgebrishvili told journalists that the investigation had uncovered many things however all this information could not be disclosed as it could hinder the investigation process.

Investigative activities are still ongoing and we are finding out more and more details every hour,” he said.
In the shortest period of time we managed to identify the individuals who committed this terrible crime,” Mgebrishvili said.

Also this afternoon Georgia's Minister of Defence Levan Izoria said "intensive efforts” were currently underway to find and detain the suspect allegedly involved.

He spoke in singular term, and said 'person' indicating only one man was involved.

The public will receive more information about the case in near future,” Izoria said.

Last night the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement accompanied by a video that claimed the case into the car bombing of UNM MP Givi Targamadze's vehicle had been solved.

The Ministry said it had identified but did not name the alleged offender or his relationship to the politician.

Five members of the public were injured and taken to hospital suffering various injuries after Targamadze's car exploded in central Tbilisi on October 4.

It appeared a bomb had been planted in the boot of the veicle. Targamadze was sitting in the front passengers seat and suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The explosion happened just after 8pm local time near the UNM office in central Tbilisi.

An investigation was launched for 'attempted murder under aggravating circumstances'.
