Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) says preliminary results of today’s Parliamentary Elections will be released about 6am tomorrow, October 9.
CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze announced this news at a briefing this morning.
"As you know at some election districts, apart from the Parliamentary Elections, some other elections are also taking place. For example, in Adjara people will also vote to elect members of the Supreme Council of Adjara too,” Mikeladze said.
This means the Commission will have to count four ballot papers here. At other districts there will be three ballot papers because people will elect local authorities too.”
We suppose that at about 6am tomorrow morning we will have preliminary results.”
Today the people of Georgia will vote to elect the 150-seat Parliament of Georgia, 77 members through party lists and 73 in the majoritarian districts.
Nineteen political parties and six election blocs are also running in the race.
People will also vote to elect lawmakers in the 21-member Supreme Council of Adjara, Georgia’s western Autonomous Republic, in six election constituencies, as well as local authorities in some locations, as several local officials had to quit posts for their participation in the elections.
