Georgia’s President and First Lady start official trip in Slovenia

Georgia and Slovenia are deepening political ties, strengthening diplomatic relations and celebrating the visit of Georgia’s President to Slovenia for the first time in the history of independent Georgia.

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili and First Lady Maka Chichua have arrived in Slovenia and are about to start their official visit to the country.

For the first time in 25 years Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana will warmly welcome the Georgian high official and his wife, and host a welcoming ceremony for the Georgian couple at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana.

During his two-day trip Margvelashvili will meet his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor, which will be followed by a joint press conference.

Georgia's First Lady will also meet Slovenia's First Lady. Afterwards Slovenia's President and his wife will host an official dinner in honour of Margvelashvili and his wife.

Meanwhile tomorrow Margvelashvili is due to meet with Slovenia’s Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly as well as the Mayors of Ljubljana and Piran.

Within the visit representatives from both countries will sign a deal to simplifying the procedures for obtaining work visas and strengthen economic relations.

Margvelashvili’s visit to Slovenia will end tomorrow.
