A unique multimedia project that bridges the gap between Georgia's past, present and future has been developed as part of the nationwide celebrations marking Georgia’s 25 years of independence.

To commemorate May 26 and the day Georgia gained independence from the Soviet Union, the Office of the Prime Minister of Georgia joined forces with experts from Leavingstone digital creative studio to create the online project Drois Ambavi [A Matter of Time].

Together the sides created a multimedia website that gives users a look at Georgia's social, cultural and political history from the country's first democratic republic in the beginning of the 20th Century until today.

Styled after a classic TV set from the 1990s, the webpage allows visitors to flick through TV channels and follow archival footage of Georgian Public Broadcaster programs and events that took place in the country over the last century.

The public can also contribute to the website and search for their entries in 25 years’ time. Screenshot from the project's video.

Members of the public can also add to the website. Users can upload text, photos or videos describing their vision of a future Georgia, and in 25 years’ time they will be able to search for their entries, look back and see how accurate their predictions were.

Messages can be submitted in photographic, video or essay format, which are then uploaded and stored.

In 25 years’ time a special function on the website will launch where users can type in their citizen ID number and address to reveal their content.

Those behind the project said anyone in Georgia or abroad can submit their messages however they must be related to Georgia. Submissions can be made from a mobile device or desktop computer before May 26.
