Georgia is creating better conditions for the children living in the orphanages by offering them family setting care instead of institutional child care.

The Ministry of the Labour, Health and Social Affairs continues the process of deinstitutionalisation of the orphanages in Georgia, which started about three years ago.

Within this process two large orphanages will be closed in the country. Instead these orphanages children will be moved to the "natural environment” where they will receive a family setting care for proper socilisation and upbringing.

For this purpose the Social Service Agency of Georgia’s Ministry of Health and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today.
