One of Georgia’s most talented opera singers is shining on the European opera stage.
Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze made her European debut as Violetta in Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviataat the Hamburg State Opera, Germany, on April 4.
La Traviata is a three-act opera by Italian composer Verdi that premiered in Venice at the La Fenice opera house on March 6, 1853.
La Traviata means "the fallen woman” or "the one who goes astray” and refers to the main character, Violetta Valéry, a courtesan.
The Georgian soprano star will take to the stage again on April 8 in her second performance at the German opera house.
Machaidze debuted as Violetta – the leading role of the opera – at the Los Angeles Opera in September last year.
The American opera company launched its season at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with a performance of Verdi’s infamous opera.
